Some pics from this summer





This was our yearly visit to see my family in Muscatine. That is the Mississippi river in the background. Muscatine has done a beautiful job of revitalizing the riverfront. I would have taken more pics, but most of it was devastated from flooding.
This bronze statue is HUGE. It depicts a clamshell digger. Muscatine, was at one time, the pearl button capital of the world. There is a museum that is dedicated to the pearl button industry.
Another little known fact about Muscatine...Mark Twain lived there for about a year. His sister was a resident of Muscatine. He favored the beautiful sunsets. Read about it Here...scroll down to the last few paragraphs. Funny how you don't appreciate the ole home town until you've moved on.
